As early as 1953, DHU had established Department of Management Engineering, gathering China's first generation of experts in management including Professor Shiqiu Zhou, Doctor of Public Administration, Harvard University, Professor Qichun Zhang and Ying Tang, Doctor of former Soviet Union. In 1959, DHU set up the undergraduate program in industrial engineering and management and began to enroll postgraduates in 1979. In September 1983, it was listed the master's degree program in industrial engineering and management. In December that year, it set up the Department of Industrial Engineering and Management, which was expanded into College of Economics and Management in 1993. One year later, the Glorious Sun School of Business and Management (GSSBM) came to birth after being sponsored by Glorious Sun Group (GSG) with HK$ 11 million, with Professor Wuwei Li, Vice Chair of the 11th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and famous economist serving as the honorary president.
GSSBM has 97 faculties, among which 17 doctoral supervisors, 28 professors and 55 associate professors. There are 2,200 undergraduates, 752 postgraduates and 80 Ph.D. students.
DHU was elected the third batch of China's MBA pilot institutions in 1996. After 20 years of development, DHU MBA programs have been highly recognized by the community and world-class specialists and institutions. In 2009, DHU was elected the nation's second batch of EMBA pilot institutions, making it the only one textile university in China with the authority to grant an EMBA degree.
In view of the international high-level business school standards, GSSBM has implemented the "strategies to comprehensively improve faculty quality, concentrate on disciplines, serve fashion industry, be international-oriented and cultivate innovative and entrepreneurial talent".

GSSBM is committed to enhancing the faculty's capacities in research, practice and teaching, especially the high level of research capacity. It has been keeping on assigning the faculty to take a temporary post in enterprises, public institutions and government departments to better understand the actual operation and needs of enterprises.
